Highlights
College of the Canyons is located in the Santa Clara region of California. It is a community college that runs courses in nearly 30 different fields. These include the arts, science, humanities, and business and around 250 degrees are available.
Since opening in 1969, the college has offered courses at various levels for over two million students. The college is well known for providing excellent student success and innovation. In addition, students will find a welcoming, vibrant and diverse campus across its two sites in Valencia and Canyon County.
Across its two campus sites, the College of the Canyons has a wide range of facilities for different fields of study. Furthermore, the main campus has a library, sports facilities and an outdoor amphitheatre that is the centre of many campus events.
As a community college, College of the Canyons has limited accommodation available for its students. Currently, the majority of students live off campus and commute. However, some housing options are available in special circumstances. For example, the college offers accommodation to people with disabilities to help with assisted living and study.
In 2021, the college opened a specialist science and laboratory facility, the Don Takeda Science Center. Here students can use labs for biology, chemistry labs and physics.
All campuses are accepting, welcoming and supportive at this college. The establishment aims to create a sense of community and cooperation on campus. This is available through the various extracurricular programs including sports and other non-academic clubs. In addition, the student community often hosts community events and meets, many of which take place at the Carl A. Rasmussen Amphitheater.
Campuses
As the College of the Canyons is located so close to the Santa Clara Valley, there is plenty to do outside of university life. Here students will find a laid-back and welcoming community with lots of leisure activities available. A range of local parks are situated nearby. Students can also take in a San Francisco 49ers game at nearby Levi's Stadium or relax in the local cafes or restaurants.
Also, the College of the Canyons main campus is located just 30 minutes away from downtown Los Angeles. The city is easily reachable by bus or car from the campus.
