English for Academic Studies
This intensive program focuses on academic English language skills that will prepare you for success in college/university, or your career. Prospective students will be placed in one of the 5 levels based on the results of our Conestoga English Language Assessment and Placement(CELAP) test and will be taught by TESL-certified professors. The English for Academic Studies (EAS) program has 5 levels ranging from a Foundations level for beginning English language learners to level 4 for high intermediate and advanced learners of English. Our program will offer you skill-based courses that are dedicated to focusing on your reading, writing, listening, pronunciation and speaking skills. Along with these core language courses, you will also take credit-based courses that focus specifically on student success and knowledge about Canadian society.
You will have the choice to take hybrid on-campus or fully online delivery modes each semester, which is 15 weeks long, including one ‘Student Success Week’. We offer mid-semester entry into our program in March, July, and November for new international students. These accelerated, 7-week delivery options will require a higher language placement test score. Please contact the ELS/EAS program coordinator if you have any questions.
Please note: Domestic applicants (Canadian citizens, permanent residents, and refugees or convention refugees) should enroll in the General Arts and Science: English Language Studies program. Classes run based on minimum enrolment requirements.
