Degree Bachelor of Engineering - Sustainable Design Engineering

The Sustainable Design Engineering (SDE) program is a four-year bachelor's degree designed to bring the philosophy and science of sustainability to greater focus in engineering. The program offers majors in Land Development and Building Design and Construction. Foundational study in mathematics and science is used to develop engineering design, problem solving, and analytical skills. The concepts of sustainability are woven throughout the program and reinforced with project-based learning and mandatory co-operative education. Students will learn in state-of-the-art facilities at Conestoga College's Cambridge campus, where through project-based learning, individual and group work, and with the latest software and equipment, they will be provided with the skills required to be successful in this emerging field of practice.

The SDE degree majors will focus at the systems level on the integration of environmental, economic and societal impacts with fundamental engineering concepts during the planning and design stages, and see their ideas through to the project implementation and operations stages. SDE streams will be broader, giving students a more holistic view of real-world engineering projects and areas where multiple disciplines intersect. The program curriculum is aligned with the PEO Body of Knowledge specific to Civil/Building engineering, and the program will be accredited by the Canadian Engineering Accreditation Board (CEAB).
