The MRes in Psychology at Wrexham Glynd?r University offers psychology graduates an exciting opportunity to develop their research skills, whilst studying a chosen area of interest. Supported by a research supervisor, students on this programme will be able to design and undertake a research project around a psychological topic that sparks their interest.

The programme is predominantly self-directed, giving students the opportunity to research their chosen area in depth. However, students will also undertake two taught modules over the academic year, attending weekly lectures, seminars, and workshops aimed to support their development as a researcher.

By choosing to be a student on this programme, you will be supported to grow and develop your identity as a researcher at Level 7. You will be able to develop expertise in an area of psychological enquiry and be encouraged to share your knowledge with the wider research and academic community.

This programme would be ideal for anyone who may wish to progress onto an MPhil or PhD in psychology in future, as it offers you learning experiences to prepare you for ongoing study and academic progression.

Assessment and Teaching

Full Time (1 year):

Students will be expected to attend 3 hours of teaching on one day per week, studying one taught module in semester one and two. Students will work on their research projects alongside taught modules, and complete the final stages of this project in the third semester over summer.

Part Time (2 years):

Students will be expected to attend 3 hours of teaching on one day per week, studying one module in semester one and two in the first academic year. Students will complete their research project exclusively in their second year of study.

Each taught module will run for twelve teaching weeks.

Assignments will include the completion of; essays, a first-person reflection, a research report, a research proposal, and an in-depth research project.
