The Centre for Cultural Policy Research offers an outstanding research environment and high quality supervision experience from leading international experts in their fields.

OVERVIEW

As a dedicated postgraduate research and teaching centre, the Centre for Cultural Policy Research has a highly experienced team of postgraduate supervisors and is home to a thriving cohort of postgraduate research students. The Centre is also home to major externally ESRC and AHRC funded research projects and is closely linked to CREATe the UK Research Councils' centre for copyright and new business models in the creative economy. These projects and the researchers working on them all contribute to the research culture and interact with PG students through a programme of workshops and seminars.

We welcome applications to undertake studies for higher degrees in the following broad areas of staff interest and specialist.

  • creativity and innovation in the cultural and media industries
  • cultural and national identities and communications in the global context
  • communication and media studies
  • evaluation of the social impact of arts intervention
  • evidence-based policy-making
  • media management and media economics
  • media regulation and cultural policy in the UK and EU
  • social media, journalism and sport.

Our Degree of Master of Letters (Research) requires you to undertake a postgraduate course of special study and research that represents a distinct contribution to knowledge.

Thesis length: 40,000-70,000 words (including references, bibliography and appendices).
