MA by Research Art

University of Lincoln

This course is designed to allow independent research in an area of your choice, supervised and supported by a team of academics. You can access to a range of training opportunities provided by the University with the aim of developing your research skills.

This programme is available in either a written thesis or practice-based format, where documentation of creative practice undertaken during the research period replaces part of the thesis component. You are expected to undertake self-led and self-managed research with the support of a supervisor. You can join an international research community within the College of Arts, where you will have the opportunity to benefit from an interdisciplinary ethos and expertise in art, contemporary curatorial practice, conservation, cultural heritage, sustainability and design.

The School of Fine & Performing Arts is a centre of creativity with a purpose-built arts venue, studios and gallery. It is home to a vibrant artistic community where students and staff work alongside one another to explore new synergies between fine and performing arts. Career and Personal Development: An MA Art by Research can offer an introductory experience of research study. Graduates may choose to continue PhD or MPhil study.
