MEng (Hons) Bioengineering with a Foundation Year

If you want to study bioengineering at Sheffield but don't have the usual scientific or mathematical background for an engineering degree, a foundation year is for you. The foundation year includes modules in chemistry, maths and physics. Complete it to the required standard and you’re guaranteed a place on a degree course. Bioengineering at Sheffield is geared towards students who want a career in the field. The way we teach reflects how the industry works. You will study in various departments, learning from experts in related branches of engineering as well as computer scientists and biologists. There are group projects and you’ll take part in the faculty’s Global Engineering Challenge, a team exercise designed to make you a better engineer.All our bioengineering courses are accredited by the Institution of Engineering and Technology (IET) and the Institute of Physics and Engineering in Medicine (IPEM). The MEng meets the academic requirements for Chartered Engineering (CEng) status. Graduates use their engineering skills to design medical instruments, repair body tissue and develop new processes in drug production. They work industry and the public sector alongside scientists, medical professionals, therapists and technicians.
