BA Journalism and Language Studies
In this global, digital age, the ability to share information with multiple audiences around the world is extremely powerful. Through language we can transmit knowledge, and share stories with people from all corners of the globe. Our BA Journalism and Language Studies allows you to hone your broadcasting and multimedia skills alongside developing a high level of fluency in using languages as a medium of understanding.
The Journalism aspect of this course will enable you to to make sound editorial judgements, have high level writing and broadcasting skills and develop your critical faculties, in particular to adopting an inquiring, skeptical and engaged approach to producing the best journalism
Through the Language Studies component of this course, you will develop a high level of fluency in one or two languages and will learn to use these language(s) as a medium of understanding, expression, and communication with awareness of stylistic and sociolinguistic variations.
Through the modern language component of this course, you have the opportunity to choose from French, German, Italian, Spanish and Mandarin Chinese, and if Mastery level is reached in the final year, then you can take a module introducing you to the theory and practice of translation, interpreting and subtitling.
