Highlights
Alexander College is a private post-secondary institution in Burnaby, British Columbia, Canada, The establishment offers courses at the undergraduate level. Options for University Transfer, Associate of Arts degree and Associate of Science degree are also available. The college currently specialises in several subject areas including, Economics, Computer Science, Psychology, Business and Mathematics.
As classes are small in number, students receive high-quality learning opportunities in a supportive environment. Furthermore, individual growth and development are encouraged through academia and wider community engagement.
Currently, Alexander College does not have any on-campus housing. This is due to the urban location of the college’s two main campuses. But students have three alternative options, homestay, room rental, or apartment rental. Via a homestay, students live with a host family or landlord whilst studying. Alternatively, students can either rent shared or private off-campus houses or apartments. The Alexander campuses are a short walk from local train stations, so commuting to Burnaby is easy.
The new campus also has a comfortable library where students will find all the necessary books, databases and IT facilities to complete courses. An affordable bookshop is also on-campus to help students find appropriate learning materials.
With a diverse and supportive learning environment, students from different backgrounds are welcomed warmly at Alexander College. Upon arrival, students can join the orienteering tour on campus and meet like-minded coursemates and teaching staff. The student union also has many extracurricular events and clubs to join. These include dance classes, athletics clubs, sports teams and cultural and social organisations.
Campuses
The two Alexander College campuses are located in Vancouver. However, the new Burnaby campus is just outside the city centre. In Burnaby, there is plenty to do and see. The college is nearby the third largest mall in Canada, the Metropolis at Metrotown. Also, the SilverCity Metropolis screens the newest movies and runs movie nights for students.
But students can explore more of Vancouver if they wish. Stanley Park, Grouse Mountain and the Capilano Suspension Bridge are all accessible from the Alexander campus in Burnaby. There are also plenty of hiking, cycling and walking routes in and around Vancouver for outdoor exploration.
