Highlights
Kwantlen Polytechnic University is located in British Columbia with campuses in Surrey, Richmond, Cloverdale, Whalley, and Langley. It was founded as Kwantien College in 1981 and became a university college in 1995 before becoming Canada's only polytechnic university in 2008. It currently has more than 20,000 students with around 5,000 international students.
The Maclean's National Survey of Student Engagement ranked it in the top Canadian institutions in terms of student participation, educational practices, and quality of education. Kwantlen Polytechnic University was ranked highly for quality of teaching and learning, career preparation, student satisfaction and information technology in The Globe and Mail Canadian University Report.
Kwantlen Polytechnic University does not have on-campus accommodation. Instead, the University provides a list of popular student accommodation providers in the surrounding Metro, Vancouver area.
The University facilitates access to housing providers such as GEC, the largest off-campus student community in Vancouver. CASA is another resource as it offers three distinct, high quality, and well-priced student living experiences, including homestay options, shared accommodation, and suites).
4Stay is a connective online marketplace that provides students with local hosts, room providers, and roommates near their destinations. Cypress Accommodations is another operator of student residences in Vancouver and the surrounding areas.
Homestay programs are popular with international students as they bridge the gap between any language barriers and allow students to feel safe with a trusted local Canadian family. Students share meals with their hosts, participate in family activities and conversations, and establish friendships with people who can help make the adjustment to new surroundings much easier.
It offers state-of-the-art facilities including high tech labs, classrooms and facilities across its campuses, particularly the Chip and Shannon Wilson School of Design building. It opened in 2018 and is a purpose-built learning space for design students with cutting-edge technology.
Student life at Kwantlen Polytechnic University is varied. Around 5000 international students enrol every year at the university so campus events involve everybody and celebrate different cultures. There are five campuses at KPU, each one with a range of first-rate facilities geared towards upholding their mission of promoting a student's holistic development. The University offers over 30 different student services, a learning centre for students to access workshops and a free intercampus shuttle that travels between campuses.

Campuses
There are three campuses in Surrey - Surrey, Cloverdale, and Civic Plaza.
1. Surrey campus
KPU Surrey, often called the main campus, is the largest of the five campuses. It is located in Surrey, British Columbia. The campus is close to Surrey Central and City Centre, Holland Park, and Bear Creek Park.
2. Cloverdale campus
The KPU Tech Campus is located in Cloverdale, Surrey. It is close to the Museum of Surrey and the Fraser Downs Racetrack and Casino.
3. Civic Plaza campus
The Civic Plaza Campus is located in Surrey, British Columbia. It is in the heart of Surrey’s City Centre, close to many facilities, and is easily accessible by public transportation.
Surrey is a vibrant area filled with shopping centres, restaurants, and cafes. The city also has numerous parks and natural attractions.
Surrey is well-connected by public transportation. The nearest bus stops to the campus are Eastbound 72 Avenue at 126 Street and Eastbound 72 Avenue at 128 Street. The closest one is a 5-minute walk away.
FAQs
International students have a range of scholarships open to them. International Entrance Scholarships are granted to new international students entering undergraduate courses at KPU. The International Student Ambassador Award is another award for continuing international students who have shown involvement in the KPU community. The Regional Entrance Awards are given to students from certain regions or countries and may be applicable to applicants at Kwantlen Polytechnic University.
