MRes Linguistics
You'll be taught by world-leading researchers, so you’ll be working in the first tier of academic research, gaining a sophisticated understanding of linguistic theories, methods and concepts.
You'll study core modules in research design, social and epistemological theory, and qualitative and quantitative methods offered jointly by Queen Mary, King's College London (KCL) and Imperial College London as part of the ESRC-funded London Interdisciplinary Social Science Doctoral Training Partnership.
You'll also complete a range of modules offered in conjunction with the Department's Linguistic MA.
This programme is in an approved pathway for ESRC funding, so you can apply for ESRC 1+3 funding to cover both your MRes and a PhD. If you gain your MRes, you can then apply for ESRC +3 PhD funding.
We encourage cross-disciplinary interaction and welcome students with diverse interests. Our academics publish influential papers and books, work in the media and inform government policy – they are also friendly and approachable.
We’ll also give you a broad experience of linguistic, sociolinguistic and experimental data, using London's rich cultural and linguistic environment as a resource.
