Highlights
St Clair College is a public higher education institution in Southwestern Ontario, Canada. The college opened in 1958 to provide additional education options under Ryerson University. Today, St Clair provides over 100 degrees, diploma and certificate programs for around 9,000 full-time students.
The college aims to provide a complete learning experience with expert-led academics leading courses. Furthermore, St Clair covers various academic areas, including Sciences, Arts, Engineering, Media, Business and IT.
In addition, key student services are on offer. These include peer tutoring, academic and career counselling, disability services and accommodation plans. Students can also access the 10,000-square foot Fitness Centre for free.
St Clair has three on-campus residences that students can apply for. Quittenton Hall can house over 400 students, while the smaller accommodation at the Chatham campus has a smaller intake. International student housing is at the GEM Residence in Windsor. At GEM, international students have long-term, on-campus accommodation to help integrate into the community.
But the college also has some off-campus options available. St Clair has a list of safe housing options, apartments, houses and host families in Windsor and Chatham.
On the South Campus, students can use the 300-seat computer lab with wireless internet. Seven meeting rooms are also available for student clubs and project work.
St Clair is committed to an inclusive and fair environment on campus. It is dedicated to the maintaining five core values of honesty, trust, fairness, responsibility, and respect. Due to this, an embracing community exists on campus where students feel valued and appreciated.
The college also has extracurricular clubs and activities to help students participate in the community. 14 varsity sports teams, including fastball, curling, basketball, volleyball, badminton and cross country, are available to join. Furthermore, students can find part-time jobs and volunteer opportunities through the Student Representative Council (SRC). This organisation also provides funding, events and services for students.
Campuses
St Clair College's main campus is in downtown Windsor. The city is on the banks of the Detroit River, right on the United States border. Due to its proximity to the US, Windsor is called the International Gateway between Canada and the US. Due to this, the city is incredibly diverse and it is the fourth most multicultural Canadian city.
In Windsor, there is plenty to see and explore. Leisure activities are available at numerous coffee shops, shopping malls, museums and dance clubs. Also, outdoor activities are accessible at the riverfront gardens that wind along the Detroit River. Additionally, students located in Chatham are an hour from Windsor. But Chatham also has shopping centres and a connected train and rail system for commuting.
