Master of Professional Accounting (Chartered Accountancy Program)
Waikato's Master of Professional Accounting (MPAcct) is tailor-made for university graduates who have never studied accounting before, but already have a bachelor's degree in another area.
This internationally recognised qualification will set you up for a professional career in accounting and as a future business leader. It is globally accredited by professional bodies and respected by top employers.
Depending on your career goals, students can choose either the 180-point MPAcct programme (12 months) or the 240-point MPAcct with a Chartered Accountancy (CA) endorsement (21-23 months). See below for more details.
The course has two intakes each year, so you can start in either January or November.
During your studies, you will develop advanced knowledge and skills in all the core areas of accounting, business, law, economics and finance, and be able to apply them to practical accounting situations.
Please note this is an accelerated course with an intensive workload.
You'll be studying at Waikato Management School, which is ranked #1 in New Zealand for Business & Economics for two years running (Times Higher Education World University Subject Rankings 2022 & 2023).
Waikato is also a Triple Crown Accredited business school, an educational benchmark that puts us in the top 1% of business schools globally.
