University College Cork was founded in 1845 as one of three Queen's Colleges across Ireland - the other two were in Belfast and Galway. In 1908 it became University College, Cork before losing the comma 90 years later. Today it hosts around 20,000 students with more than 3,000 of them international students from over 104 countries.
It has also been ranked in the top 4.5% of the world's universities for impact.
The university has a new Student Hub that really is the hub of student life in Cork, located right next to its famous Quad. It's the base for all 100 clubs and societies plus student advisory services and media outlets. Best of all, its social spaces offer stunning views out across the campus and city.
An international survey conducted by International Graduate Insight Group ranked University College Cork 1st in Ireland for its sporting facilities. It has the Mardyke Arena which offers a pool, basketball court, climbing wall and more and there are 59 sports clubs at the university.
University College Cork has been voted both the safest campus in Ireland and one of the safest in the world.
