The University of Dayton is a private Catholic university in Dayton, Ohio. It was founded in 1850 by the Society of Mary as St Mary's School for Boys, becoming a university and adopting its current name in 1920. It is the second-largest private university in the state and has around 12,000 students including international students from 65 countries around the world.

The University of Dayton was the first University to establish an undergraduate program in human rights studies. Its Human Rights Center creates positive change through research, education and dialogue.
