Certificate in Educational Leadership
Note: the Certificate in Educational Leadership in Nunavut (CELN) program is not currently offered.
The Certificate in Educational Leadership in Nunavut (CELN) program was created by UPEI’s Faculty of Education in partnership with the Government of Nunavut (GN), Department of Education, Educator Development. This certificate is designed to provide qualified teachers and educational leaders in Nunavut with the background, history, knowledge, skills and attitudes to provide culturally based, effective, and responsive, leadership in the school system. Topics range from the introductory level through to specialized courses that focus on parental engagement, action research and approaches to school improvement that support the implementation of educational legislation and policy in Nunavut.
This certificate consists of five course requirements at the 5000 level and offers an opportunity for established educational leaders such as principals or vice-principals, as well as aspiring leaders, to deepen their understanding of community-based leadership in Nunavut. Courses are offered using a combination of face-to-face and distance education. Face-to-face courses are delivered with a distance education pre-course component, including readings and moderated online discussions before participants meet for class.
