Nottingham Trent University is the 6th largest university in the UK, welcoming more than 35,000 students each year. This includes 4,000 international students from more than 120 countries. It dates back to 1843 Nottingham Government School of Design, becoming Trent Polytechnic in 1970 after several mergers with other colleges. In 1992 it gained university status and its current name.
According to the Uni Compare Top 100 rankings for university accommodation, Nottingham Trent is the second best in the UK as a place to live while you study.
Nottingham Trent University was named The Times and The Sunday Times Modern University of the Year 2023. This was for its commitment to delivering a great student experience, excellent graduate prospects and world-leading research. In 2020 it also won the award for Outstanding Support for Students at the Times Higher Education Awards.
Campuses
Nottingham has two campuses - City Campus and Clifton Campus.
The City campus is located north of Nottingham City Centre and features a mix of heritage and innovation. It houses the Nottingham Business School, Nottingham Law School, School of Architecture, Design and the Built Environment, School of Art & Design, School of Social Sciences and the Centre for Broadcasting & Journalism.
The university buildings, accommodation and the city centre are all within walking distance. The nearest bus stop is Woodborough Road. It is a 2-minute walk away.
The Clifton campus offers a scenic and peaceful environment. The campus houses the School of Science and Technology, the School of Arts and Humanities, and the School of Education. There are several specialist research and sports facilities on the campus, including a sports hall, gym, and outdoor pitches.
Nottingham has an active nightlife, events, sporting activities, and many cultural attractions such as Nottingham Castle, the City of Caves, and many more. It is also well-connected by public transportation.

These scholarships range in value from £3,000 to 50% of your tuition fees, making studying at NTU more affordable for international students. The NTU Excellence Scholarships are awarded to undergraduate and postgraduate students who demonstrate exceptional academic achievement and potential to contribute to the university community. These scholarships can cover 50% or 25% of your tuition fees. Available international scholarships are worth up to £3,000, whereas regional and subject scholarships are awarded based on your nationality and chosen course of study. They can range from £4,000 to 50% of your tuition fee.
