Highlights
Despite its name, Bedfordshire University has campuses in both Bedfordshire and Buckinghamshire. Its history goes back to a teacher training college established in 1882 and for some time it was known as the University of Luton before changing its name in 2006. It currently hosts around 20,000 students, including those from more than 100 different countries.
Bedfordshire University has also been ranked in the top 10 for social inclusion and opening up access to education. It was commended by the QAA for the high quality and standards of its higher education provision.
Along with a lower cost of living than nearby London, Bedfordshire University offers modern, on-campus accommodation, ranking in the top 20 for cost effectiveness across UK city universities.
Campuses
The University has four campuses in Bedford - Luton, Aylesbury, Bedford, and Milton.
1. Luton
The Luton campus is located in the heart of the town centre. Luton’s surrounding area comprises several parks and open spaces including ZSL Whipsnade Zoo, Dunstable Downs, and Wardown Park. The city is filled with restaurants, cinemas, a shopping mall and indoor market, a football stadium and other sports facilities.
The city is well-connected by transport with the rest of the UK and Europe. The nearest bus stop is Park Square, Luton Town Centre. It’s a 2-minute walk away.
2. Aylesbury
The Aylesbury Campus is located in the historic market town of Aylesbury in Buckinghamshire, England. The campus is close to Friars Square Shopping Centre, a major shopping destination.
You can explore the theatres, indoor karting, galleries and music concerts. Aylesbury is only 40 miles from London. The nearest train station to the campus is Aylesbury station.
3. Milton Keynes
The Milton Keynes campus is located in central Milton Keynes, near the main shopping centre and local amenities. The campus is very well connected and is within 35 minutes of London by fast train. The closest train station is Milton Keynes Central.
Milton Keynes is a city-sized town in Buckinghamshire and one of the fastest-growing places in the UK. It offers great shopping and sports facilities.
4. Bedford
The Bedford campus is close to Bedford town centre, with lots of green spaces. The surrounding area has various parks and open spaces including Bedford Park.
Bedford is a riverside town with a mixture of lively traditional pubs and restaurants, shops and first-class sports facilities. The town has good transport links and a mainline train station with a direct link to London.
