The University of Greenwich is located in the Royal Borough of Greenwich in London. Its main campus is in the iconic Old Royal Naval College, a World Heritage Site that has made an appearance in many movies and TV shows. The university dates back to 1891 as the Woolwich Polytechnic, eventually becoming Thames Polytechnic before gaining university status in 1992.
It's ranked in the top 100 UK universities by The Complete University Guide, The Guardian and The Times/Sunday Times. The University was awarded Gold in the Teaching Excellence Framework (TEF) in 2023. Over 20,000 students study at the University, including international students from more than 140 countries.

Avery Hill is the most feasible accommodation option, housing over 1,200 students. The intercampus bus runs from here to the Greenwich campus until midnight throughout the week and is entirely free of charge.
The accommodation at Greenwich comprises four halls within walking distance of campus and is occupied by postgraduate students. The Medway accommodation is within walking distance of Chatham town centre, with 350 rooms on campus and options for the Medway School of Pharmacy. Library
The libraries at each campus provide state-of-the-art facilities and quiet study spaces.
Sports
There are sports facilities spread across the three campuses of the university. The sports hall on the Avery Hill Campus is built for different sports, including badminton, football, basketball, netball, cricket, volleyball, and more. The campuses also hold football pitches, tennis courts and other sports facilities.
Laboratory
The University has multiple specialised lab facilities, including the Analytical Services Laboratory, TV and sound studios, and many more.
Cafeteria
You can eat or get coffee on all three campuses, including the Dreadnought Building, Queen Mary Café, the Tudor Café and the Dome, Pembroke Building, or the Pilkington Building.
Campuses
The campuses are close to restaurants, live music venues, and famous tourist attractions, including Greenwich Park and the Royal Observatory. You can explore the city landmarks and tourist attractions, with the London Underground and Overground.
Located in one of the world's most exciting cities, the campuses benefit from excellent transport links. The Greenwich and Avery Hill campuses are connected by bus and train to central London. Medway campus is just a 45-minute train journey from London.

The University’s Employability & Careers Service (ECS) will help you with your career aspirations, and access part-time work, internships, and graduate job opportunities.
The University’s career services team works with many graduate recruitment firms such as Savills, Enterprise Rent-A-Car and PricewaterhouseCoopers through recruitment fairs, on-campus interviews, and assessment centres.
