Highlights
The University of Sussex is a public research university located in the southern coastal county of Sussex in England.
More than a third of the university's students are studying a postgraduate qualification, as one in three are international students.
On-campus accommodation offers a range of options, from en-suite to shared living styles. All accommodation is self-catered, so students cook their own meals. There are seven different housing options for students to choose from.
If you apply for an undergraduate course that starts in September, you are guaranteed University-managed accommodation for your first year of study if you meet their requirements.
Sussex University also owns flats and houses off-campus. Many students in senior years choose to live in the surrounding area of Brighton & Hove.
A standout feature of student life at Sussex University is One World Week, a series of events that aim to raise awareness of global issues and highlight international opportunities for the diverse Sussex student population. There is also a Coaching Programme that offers life counselling and a Student Centre. The University of Sussex is the 25th most international university in the world.
Queensland is a popular study destination for international students as the internationally recognised institutions prime students for readily available success beyond graduation. Cultural tours are frequently held to celebrate the location's diversity, and tourists often like to tour the Great Barrier Reef. The Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast provide relaxing beach spots to unwind between classes, and students are tempted to explore the famous outback.
Campuses
The University of Sussex is located at Falmer on the outskirts of Brighton. The campus is close to Lewes and an hour away from London. Located inside the South Downs National Park, it is the only English university in a National Park.
The campus has eight cafes/restaurants, a post office, a food store, a market, a bank, a pharmacy, a health centre, childcare facilities, and a weekly market.
Brighton is popular for its seaside atmosphere and boasts several historical landmarks, such as the Royal Pavilion and the Brighton Museum & Art Gallery. You can also explore the iconic Brighton Pier, Brighton Marina, and the pebble beaches.
The closest train station is Falmer railway station, about nine minutes from Brighton station. Falmer Station is directly opposite the campus. The nearest bus stop is North-South Road. It’s a 3-minute walk away.
