The Student Services team offers a variety of services such as support groups, including international student support, and a student mentoring program to ensure students make the most of campus life. Similarly, there are on-campus health clinics and easy access to counseling sessions readily available. Students can join the Student Representative Council to make their voice heard or join one of the many clubs and societies on campus. Guest speaker events and the variety of sports clubs available also provide a vibrant and varied student experience for all those attending WITT.
Students are well-supported by a range of facilities. Access all the academic resources you need via the modern library space that also boasts of having several study spaces, printing facilities and readily available computer access. Each classroom has facilities that are conducive to all the different learning styles, from interactive whiteboards and projectors to tailored equipment for specific subjects such as engineering or technology.
There is a cafe and gym located close to the assigned student areas. The indoor sports complex serves to help students maintain an overall sense of wellbeing in addition to providing them with learning opportunities.
Te Henui Lodge is located on campus and gives you a modern and well-equipped apartment-style living arrangement. Lodge managers live on-site to provide additional security. Communal areas provide a great opportunity to socialise and enhance your usage of the English language, if applicable. Due to its location on campus, students have ease of access to the Fitness Factory: an on-site gym offering free membership to WITT students, the library, sports equipment and a student lounge that is open 24/7.
Both rental and homestay accommodation is available to WITT students. Informally referred to as ‘flatting’, you can stay in an apartment with friends or you can choose to live with a friendly local family as part of a homestay arrangement. International students can fill out an arrival and accommodation form if they want assistance with finding accommodation whilst they study at WITT.
City Life
WITT is situated in the scenic region of Taranaki, on the west coast of the North Island of New Zealand. The area is the 10th largest by population for New Zealand. In 2021, it was named as the sunniest region in New Zealand, the same year it was awarded the honour of being the most livable city in the world!
International students can explore the outdoors and soak in stunning views in Pukekura Park or along the New Plymouth Coastal Walkway, or have a fun day out at Brooklands Zoo.
