What is a study permit?

Canadian authorities issue a study permit to foreign nationals that allows them to study at designated learning institutions (DLIs) in the country. Notably, most foreign nationals require the permit to pursue education in Canada.

There is no need for a permit if you will be pursuing a programme that lasts 6 months or less in Canada. Also, the permit is not required if you are a family or staff member of a foreign representative to Canada.
