Liverpool

One of the most famous ports in the world, Liverpool was the gateway to the world for Britain during the Industrial Revolution before taking British culture to the wider world in the 1960s with the meteoric rise of its favourite sons, The Beatles. Today it’s known as a cultural hotspot, a footballing powerhouse and a great place for students to go to university.

It’s been voted the fourth friendliest city in the world by Rough Guides for the warm welcome given to visits from around the world and it remains as lively and diverse as you would expect from a famous port city. Another bonus is that Liverpool’s affordable cost of living means that you’ll have plenty of money to spend on its legendary nightlife and cultural opportunities.
