Initially, the establishment offered computer and business skills training for adult learners. But the Academy has now grown to 50 campuses across Canada. The Academy of Learning’s mission is to provide flexible courses to suit a work-life balance. As a result, students’ time is split between remote learning and on-campus study. But, whilst on campus, students will find a warm and friendly learning environment with professional and knowledgeable staff.
At the Scarborough campus, students can get one-to-one support from a designated tutor and access all on-campus facilities. In addition, a welcoming and friendly student community exists on campus, where students can meet like-minded coursemates.
As the Academy, Scarborough supports online and remote learning, the Integrated Learning System is one of the establishment's main resources. Via the learning system, students access course materials and instruction from tutors.
In addition, the system provides multi-sensory learning styles and preferences. These are accessible through specific course workbooks, media presentations and hands-on exercises.
However, students can also head to their local campus to utilise the Academy’s in-person facilities. These include computer resources, libraries and modern classrooms.
Although the Academy of Learning in Scarborough does not have on-campus housing, it can support students with finding accommodation. Students can contact their providers to discuss possible housing options and to receive advice on where to stay whilst studying in Canada.
City life
Scarborough is located just east of Toronto, and students will find plenty to do in the local surroundings. One of the most famous spots in Scarborough is the Toronto Zoo, and there are many local trails and lookout points, like the Scarborough Bluffs.
However, the campus is just a 30-minute drive or one-hour public transport journey away from central Toronto. Here students can check out famous landmarks like the CN Tower, Casa Loma or St Lawrence Market.
