MSc International Aviation Regulation and Law
Course Overview
The global Aviation industry is heavily controlled by a complex series of local, national, regional and international regulations and laws. This course aims to equip students with an expertise and critical understanding of Aviation regulation and law. It is suitable for those currently employed within the industry, or graduates in subjects such as business, aviation or economics who wish to specialise and develop expertise in the field of aviation business, regulation and law.
Bucks New University was the first UK institution to deliver Aviation Management programmes and in 2020 we celebrate two decades of sector-leading programmes. Our collaboration with ICAO and the CAA, ACI Europe, and our wide network of associate contributors, will provide you with the opportunity to get the unique insights and currency that you’ll need to be able to contribute to highly effective regulatory and legal management.
What will this course cover?
This course will equip you with a comprehensive understanding of how international regulation and law is developed, implemented and reviewed. You will learn how to develop organisational standard operating procedures to ensure they comply with the relevant regulatory and legal frameworks. Upon successful completion of the course, you will be able to demonstrate the ability to review, understand and implement regulatory and legal frameworks and put them into practice.
All aspects of the aviation industry are heavily controlled by a series of complex international law and regulations and you will learn how to apply global regulations as set by International Civil Aviation Organisation (ICAO) to a wide range of industry sectors. You will also focus on contract law, commercial law and civil law in relation to aviation businesses.

Bucks has strong expertise in the aviation industry and our academics are experienced industry professionals with some module content being delivered by active industry legal/regulatory professionals. We offer a wide range of industry site visits as well as guest lecturers enabling you to network with key professionals and organisations. Previous site visits have included Birmingham Airport, London Heathrow Airport, Hamburg Airport, Airbus and British Airways.
What are my career prospects
Specific areas of employment for International Aviation Regulation and Law students include civil aviation regulators, global aviation policy makers and aviation consultancy services. You can also progress into a wide range of managerial roles in any sector of the aviation industry including airlines, airports, air navigation service providers, tour operators and civil aviation authorities. You will be working with industry professionals throughout the programme, which may increase employability opportunities.
