BA (Hons) International Business Management with Foundation Year
This degree in International Business Management will enable you to pursue a career in the arena of international business management and gain a competitive edge in today's global job market.
As businesses continue to operate across borders, job market demand is high for graduates who have attained a multidisciplinary international business education. The degree offers you a unique combination of international perspectives on business and management, cross-cultural management skills and foreign language competencies.
Employers value graduates who have gained global business perspectives. The value of a graduate's global mindset resides in the ability to demonstrate a range of competencies that equips them with the necessary knowledge and skills to work in an increasingly global business environment, work with multicultural teams, be interculturally aware and possess foreign language skills.
You will develop your knowledge and skills in discipline areas such as management, marketing, human resources, strategy, finance, entrepreneurship and cross-cultural management. In addition to this, languages are a core element throughout the whole programme and students must study one foreign language (Spanish / French / Mandarin Chinese)
Spanish and French is offered either at beginners level or Post A-level. Please note that A-level offering for Spanish and French is subject to demand.
Mandarin Chinese is offered at beginners level.
This multidisciplinary degree offers a wide variety of option modules in years two and three that will allow you to build your academic profile to suit your educational interests and career aspirations. This will provide you the opportunity to specialise in a particular area or take a broader approach to your studies.
Year one modules concentrate on fundamental areas of business and management, laying the foundation upon which later modules are based. Years two and three add greater academic depth to the subjects, and are more applied, practical, investigative and analytical in nature.
You will also develop a range of transferable skills, which are essential in today's competitive globalised job market. These include communication skills, teamwork, intercultural skills, problem solving, critical and analytical thinking, digital skills and entrepreneurial skills.
Academic courses at the Cardiff School of Management are career oriented and have been designed in conjunction with business and industry. Our courses aim to promote student employability, knowledge transfer and applied research. The programme design is informed by current research and professional practice to ensure course content is relevant to your future career.
In the second year of the degree, you will undertake a compulsory work placement module (15 days work placement) as this is considered an essential requirement for all students at the Cardiff School of Management. There is the additional opportunity to take a sandwich year, between years two and three of the programme, to undertake a year long placement in industry. This will also help you get valuable work experience in industry and stand out from other candidates when you apply for jobs.
This programme will undergo periodic review in 2022/23. As such, course content shown below may change to ensure the programme remains current. Any applicants will be informed of any changes once confirmed.
