Bachelor of Animation
The Bachelor of Animation is a three-year, applied degree program that will provide graduates with the creative and technical skills to succeed in the demanding field of animation for feature film, streaming, TV series, commercials, and gaming industries. Students will experience an integrated curriculum and applied learning environment that focuses on the knowledge and skills relevant to current innovations in the growing field of animation. The program introduces foundational skills in various animation disciplines, such as 3D character animation, storyboarding, life drawing, and visual development. As students progress through the program, they build on these skills by applying them to character performance-driven animation, advanced rigging techniques, modelling, creature animation, and digital sculpting projects. The individual threads of the program interweave in the final year capstone courses, embedded in the last two semesters of the program when the students develop a short, animated film. This unique degree gives students independent and collaborative opportunities to develop personally and professionally and includes a paid co-op work term. The program will offer many opportunities to develop critical thinking, professional communication, and leadership skills that will enable graduates to work successfully in interdisciplinary, team environments common in the field of animation.
