AS-T Public Health Science (Transfer)
The AS-T degree in Public Health Sciences offers a direct pipeline to both transfer and career paths globally by applying critical analysis skills to contemporary health issues and assessing the fundamental characteristics and organizational structures of the U.S. health system and the significant differences in systems in other countries.
Students discuss the role of community engagement in promoting public health and social justice. They will learn of the multiple determinants of health, including sociological, economic, genetic, behavioral, environmental, and other factors that impact human health and health disparities. Students study the risk factors and modes of transmission for infectious and chronic diseases and how these diseases affect both personal and public health. They will apply the basic concepts, methods, and tools of public health data collection, use, and analysis and explain why evidence-based approaches are an essential part of public health practice.
