The programme is ideal for those who do not meet the entry requirements for direct entry onto an honours degree. Following successful completion (including any additional progression requirements) of the Foundation Year you can progress on to the first year of Data Science with Applied Business Informatics. **Start Dates**We offer a September and January entry point onto this course. (Applicant information for January 2022 entry can be found on the 2021/2022 pages.) The closing date for applications to the September 2022 entry point is the 15th January (unless otherwise stipulated) and the closing date for applications for the January 2023 entry point is the 20th December 2022. Please note that the January start point runs in a compressed time-frame (January to July) but without loss of teaching weeks or acceleration of teaching and content delivery. This programme will give you the theoretical tools and the practical skills to process such data and apply appropriate techniques to extract meaningful information. This will create a new value chain, enabling businesses to gain insight from their data and improve their processes.Our programme is designed as a balanced blend of mathematics, statistics and computer science, tailored to understand the business context of AI and data science applications. You will study fundamental statistical techniques alongside modern software development methods applicable in areas of business such as finance and econometrics. You will also explore the ethical, psychological and social aspects of such applications.In our computing laboratories, you will have the opportunity to apply your learning immediately using authentic datasets. You will undertake significant hands-on projects, including a final year data science dissertation led by academics with research specialties currently in artificial intelligence, big data and statistical modelling. You will explore a range of advanced technical topics which may include game theory, or international finance, as well as academic research, and practical problem-solving in order to become a skilled professional able to manage data complexity in a field in high dem
