MEng (Hons) Aerospace Engineering
This course offers an innovative curriculum, excellent links with industry and cutting-edge facilities. MEng degree is accredited by the Royal Aeronautical Society (RAeS). The MEng degree contains an extra year of advanced-level study and can provide a faster route to chartered engineer (CEng) status. Year 1 provides an introduction to aerospace engineering, and will underpin the skills and knowledge required for further specialized study. Year 2 will introduce you to specialized topics in aerospace engineering such as aerodynamics, propulsion, structures, dynamics and materials. It includes further study of mathematics, electronics, control and computing. In Year 3, you will deepen your knowledge of specialized aerospace engineering subjects and will broaden your expertise in other areas of engineering.
MEng students have the opportunity of integrating industrial placement with further studies using a combination of work-based learning as well as blended and distance learning (subject to accreditation by RAeS). Year 4 of the MEng course includes a multidisciplinary group design project that helps to integrate and apply your academic knowledge, develop your team working and communication skills, and increase your understanding of real-world engineering issues. Coursework is designed to be achieved within the set amount of learning hours for each module and is appropriate to the level of study. We encourage a professional work ethic, which includes how to manage your time. A range of additional support is available to students who require it via the Academic Support Centre and personal tutors.
