BA Media Studies
Media Studies is a multidisciplinary department that encompasses the aesthetic and historical study of old and new media. These range from speech, print, radio, film, television, and advertising to video games, the Internet, and mobile phones. Despite their number and diversity, media represent a coherent field of study that allows students to concentrate in areas of personal interest.
Coursework includes rhetorical, aesthetic, theoretical, and research-oriented approaches. Students learn how to read carefully, think critically, and write and speak effectively. They may choose to develop expertise in video, film, multimedia, and sound production. In addition, the Media Studies internship program helps students take advantage of opportunities at major public and private institutions in the metropolitan area.
