The Centre for the Study of Global Ethics, the first of its kind in the UK, is home to world-leading researchers exploring the foremost ethical issues of our time.

As a postgraduate researcher in the Centre, you will benefit from its interdisciplinary approach and diverse range of expertise in justice and development, environment and health, gender justice, and conflict and security. Our researchers cover a variety of topics, from climate change to migration, and our students have very varied backgrounds.

In addition to seminars shared with the Philosophy department, The Centre for the Study of Global Ethics also runs ethics events, including at least two Global Ethics seminars a term and the Global Ethics Annual Conference.

You can study in traditional PhD format, or through our PhD by Papers option. Rather than writing a single book-like thesis examining a single topic, a PhD by Papers gives you the choice of writing a thesis comprising of several separate (though thematically unified) papers, in the style of philosophy journal articles.
