BA (Hons) Archaeology and History
Teaching takes place at the Parkgate Road campus.Archaeology is the study of the human past, from the hunter-gatherers of Ice Age Europe to the inhabitants of modern cities. At Chester, our course provides you with an understanding of these past societies and the techniques that we use to study them. The course aims to provide you with a wide range of skills, such as field survey and excavation, critical reading and writing, and scientific analysis; as well as the opportunity to specialise in particular periods or themes.By studying the human past, it can help you gain a better understanding why the world is as it is and a greater appreciation of your place in it. Studying History will help you to acquire the skills that employers value, such as critical thinking, teamwork, communication skills, information handling and original thinking.
