Our BSc in Physical Education (PE) is a course that is aimed at students who are considering a future career in teaching PE. The course covers the relevant theoretical and practical knowledge, as well as providing you with the opportunity to gain experience of planning and delivering lessons.

This course has been designed by former PE teachers to reflect the knowledge and experience required by students who are aiming to move into the profession. All modules are delivered by experienced PE staff with strong academic profiles, who are aware of the knowledge and skills required to be a successful PE teacher. All three levels of study involve teaching experience across a range of age ranges and in a variety of activities.
Teaching methods
Taught modules involve access to laboratories and sport facilities, including a 4G pitch and swimming pool. While there is a heavy focus on practical learning, there are opportunities to work with groups of local schoolchildren.
Assessment
You will be assessed in a variety of ways that reflect the content of each module and the professional focus of the degree. Assessments may include taught lessons, presentations, essays, written reflection/actions, and practical performances.
Job prospects
The University of Chester offers both the PGCE and Schools Direct route into initial teacher training (ITT) so there is a clear transition available. Staff will provide all students with the relevant guidance in order to complete their application through UCAS and a range of support with the interview process.
