Course Overview
This interdisciplinary course offers a deep exploration of the ancient world and its enduring religious traditions, from the civilizations of Greece and Rome to the foundational texts of Judaism and Christianity. You will develop critical skills by analyzing original languages and artifacts, with opportunities for hands-on learning through international travel to Mediterranean archaeological sites. The programme is designed for students of all backgrounds to understand how these ancient subjects continue to shape modern thought, culture, and society.
Key Program Highlights
- Study ancient literature, history, and material culture with optional Latin and/or Greek language courses at any level.
- Gain direct experience by visiting archaeological sites and museums in Italy and Greece as part of the programme.
- Learn biblical languages from scratch, including Greek and Hebrew, to read foundational texts in their original form.
- Examine world religions—including Judaism, Christianity, Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism—within their cultural and political contexts.
- Learn from a diverse and supportive community of experts in a programme open to students of all faiths and none.
