PhD Criminology
An interdisciplinary subject, criminology draws on a range of perspectives relating to crime looking at sociology, psychology, and law, and as such provides new opportunities for scholarship and advanced research.The School of Social and Political Sciences benefits from an active research base ensuring that staff are involved in current debates and that students are made aware of relevant developments and issues. Each research student is supported by a programme of research training.Opportunities for research are available across a range of topics in social and political sciences. Current students’ research projects include policy responses to extremism and terrorism, institutional betrayal and sexual misconduct, police culture, young people and the police, young women and violence, regional inequality in police forces, harm reduction interventions for injecting drug users, and gambling policy.
