Digital Social Science Certificate

With a certificate in digital social science, you'll be able to ask and pursue answers to fundamental questions about the social impacts of information technology while learning cutting-edge research skills. Digital sociology serves as a bridge between disciplines, with the social sciences on one side and data and computer sciences on the other. The number of social scientists working in technology and related sectors is growing, and social scientists with training in technology and business are in exceptionally high demand.
UNT’s digital social science graduate degrees and certificates provide advanced, interdisciplinary training in the social dimensions of digital technologies. You'll explore new perspectives and ways to study social trends and interactions using digital research tools such as web scraping, text mining, network analysis and social simulations.

You can begin digital social science graduate training with a four-course graduate certificate, then decide whether to stop there or apply those four courses to a master’s degree in interdisciplinary studies, sociology or business. All four courses (12 credits total) count toward UNT master’s degrees in these fields. You may then choose to continue to a Ph.D. in marketing, sociology or another field.
