The role of the modern Diagnostic Radiographer has changed dramatically in recent years to keep up with innovations in medical imaging technology. Diagnostic Radiographers now take high-quality images to help diagnose conditions using a wide range of imaging modalities, including X-ray, Ultrasound, Fluoroscopy, Computerised Tomography (CT), Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI), Nuclear Medicine, Angiography and Mammography. They also work closely with patients and members of the wider health care team to ensure the delivery of high-quality care. The BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography course builds on the internationally-recognised success of the University of Plymouth’s Peninsula Medical School, which produces exceptionally well-prepared students entering clinical career pathways. In Plymouth, you will also have unprecedented radiographic access to the only purpose-built Radiology Academy in the world and one of the largest teaching hospitals in Europe, as well as state-of-the-art virtual dissection and imaging facilities.The University of Plymouth BSc (Hons) Diagnostic Radiography is approved by the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC), and once you have graduated you will be eligible to apply for HCPC registration as a diagnostic radiographer.
