Graduate Foundation in Language, Literacy, and Technology
WSU offers two masters degree programs in Language, Literacy and Technology. These degrees combines two areas of focus, English Language Learners (ELL) and Literacy Education, and integrates education technology. While the non-thesis Ed.M. degree is a masters degree focused on practitioner-based model with its purpose to develop teachers’ or other professionals’ knowledge and skills. On the there hand the thesis M.A. degree research-based masters program is designed for students who wish to focus on educational research in literacy or ELL and who may pursue a doctoral degree. This information is for the M.A. degree.The Master of Arts (MA) degree is designed for students who desire to study and explore educational research. The MA degree is well suited for those students wishing to eventually pursue a doctoral degree or a research/leadership role in schools or organizations/agencies. The MA degree program consists of a minimum of thirty (30) graded credits with an additional four (4) credits of thesis work (TCH LRN 700). The performance criteria in TCH LRN 700 are based on a satisfactory/unsatisfactory scale, as opposed to a letter grade.
