The skills you gain on this programme will enable you to provide administrative services to meet the needs of a business entity. You'll learn how to perform financial calculations, process data, produce information for business purposes, maintain administrative systems and processes, and make recommendations for improvements.

You'll also learn how to communicate effectively with stakeholders, work collaboratively to contribute to the achievement of team objectives, select and apply customer service techniques, comply with policies and legislation, and consistently meet expectations.

This qualification will give you the skills and knowledge to work in a wide range of general office administration roles in a variety of sectors, under broad guidance.

These may include: a sole-charge role in a small business entity, senior receptionist, customer relationship roles, personal assistant or secretary, lead administrator, front line customer service, call or contact centre operator, office support worker, web administrator or service desk co-ordinator.

You can add to your business skills and expertise with a New Zealand Certificate in Business specialising in other areas (such as accounting support services, first line management, project management or small business) or by studying the New Zealand Diploma in Business (with strands in accounting, administration and technology, leadership and management, and project management).
