BSc (Hons) Business Management and Marketing (with Placement)

Marketing has been defined as an organisational function and a set of processes for creating, communicating and delivering value to customers, and managing customer relationships in ways that benefit the organisation and its stakeholders. For too long, marketing was interpreted simply as a means to sell whatever an organisation produced. As competition has increased, companies have begun to recognise the importance of marketing as part of a fully integrated strategy that aims to identify, anticipate and satisfy customer needs. This degree in Business Management and Marketing will focus on this shift in attitudes and the implications it has on the application of management principles and practices in various types of organisations. Your studies will combine a specialised stream of modules in marketing with a more general programme of study across a range of business and management disciplines. The Placement Year provides you with a fantastic opportunity to broaden your horizons and develop valuable skills and contacts through working in field relevant to your chosen degree subject. The Placement Year is taken between years 2 and 3 of your degree and students are away for the whole of the academic year. The minimum period in placement (at one or more locations) is seven calendar months; more usually you would spend 10-12 months with a placement provider. Placements can be UK-based or overseas and you will work with staff to plan and finalise the placement arrangements. You would normally start sometime in the period June to September of your second year and finish between June and September the following year. You will be supported throughout the placement period by a dedicated member of staff within your academic school.
