The Child and Family Studies (CFS) program at Baylor University focuses on the development of individuals and families as they grow and change. Students in this major study the dynamics of the life span (prenatal through late adulthood). This program offers four concentrations specializing in a content area, including:

The program is designed to prepare students for a variety of careers opportunities in hospitals, clinics, adoption agencies, youth ministries, family planning centers, social services, youth correctional facilities or as teachers. It also offers the opportunity to pursue certification as either a Child Life Specialist or a Certified Family Life Educator. No matter what career path is chosen, students will become professionals who practice critical thinking, self-reflection and scientific inquiry. We desire that they know and use ethical guidelines and professional standards related to our field.

As a part of each degree programs, students are required to complete a summer practicum. Similar to an internship, a practicum is a specific program designed to give students hands-on experience and prepare them for careers in Child and Family Studies.
