**Course Overview** In the constantly evolving fashion and textiles industry we can teach you how to meet shifting customer values, new technologies and approaches to working, whilst injecting your own style into everything you do. You can also have the chance to enter industry competitions.You can also work with designers in and around the capital, gaining experience in how to adapt to the challenges of working in a business. We were recently selected as one of only five UK institutions to take part in the UK Fashion and Textile Association’s (UKFT) ‘MADE IT’ programme, 20/21.**What facilities can I use?**We’ve spent a lot of love and care making the ‘Red Shed’ workshop the perfect creative space and one of the best-equipped workshops in the country. You'll be working on industry standard equipment, learning latest techniques and future focused methods of fashion craftsmanship. You will master materials, both through traditional methods and using digital software. Here you will be able to design, create and get inspired with not only your own workspace, but also our range of equipment which can help you craft your garments in almost any medium you like. **What will I study?**At the core of the BA (Hons) Fashion and Textiles course you can find creativity, innovative thinking and an exploration of contemporary approaches to the creation of textiles for fashion. You'll explore many areas within the fashion and textiles industry, including colour, materials, pattern, structure and composition. Alongside this you will be supported as you develop your individual strengths, building a small collection and portfolio to launch you into the design industry on graduation.**How will I be taught and assessed?**This course is 75% practice-based so you will have ample opportunity to develop your subject through a hands-on, experimental approach. You’ll get to enjoy a friendly, supportive and stimulating learning environment. This enables you to focus on perfecting your specialism, while developing your creativity and confidence. You’ll benefit from a close-knit community with your fellow students, as well as great studio-based lecturers from our experienced and specialist team of lecturers who are made up of designers, current industry practitioners and researchers.As well as working on your own briefs, you’ll be able to meet, and work on, industry-based projects with leading designers. The Red Shed also often has guest speakers and past alumni come in to talk and cover a range of areas from fashion design, costume, styling, brand consultancy and fashion PR.
