MA Education: TESOL (Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages)

Course Overview

This new course covers the fundamentals of Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages at Master's level. Students will examine key issues in the field including teaching methods in English Language Teaching, teaching English to Young Learners and English for Specific Purposes, including English for Academic Purposes. Students can exit at Postgraduate Certificate and Postgraduate Diploma levels.

Assessment

Assessment will be in a variety of forms, from more traditional methods such as coursework and written assignment to oral presentations. Our library offers academic support for assessments and assignment writing via the library pages on the Student Room. The International Office also offer free of charge academic support for International Students.

Employability & Careers

Graduates from the MA Education TESOL course will be able to apply for teaching posts in a variety of contexts that teach English to speakers of other languages. These include private language schools, training departments in professional contexts and university based English language departments. Opportunities for further study for graduates from the programme are to progress on to PhD level study within the Cardiff School of Education or in other universities.
