MA English and Education Management

This course offers advanced academic study of English literature and language, and gives you the knowledge-base necessary to become an effective instructor and manager in a variety of education settings.

You will hone your critical and analytical skills through exploring the stylistic features of the English language, discussing major English literature themes and authors in relation to sustainability and environmental issues, engaging with the theory and practice of teaching English to speakers of other languages and approaching key issues in education management.

  • You will practise microteaching and discuss innovative teaching theory and practice.
  • You will also have the opportunity to gain a recognised professional teaching qualification1: the Teaching Knowledge Test accredited by Cambridge Assessment English, as part of the module Professional Enhancement: Managing the Teaching and Learning Process (Please note that you must be studying on-campus in the UK to take this test.)
  • You will have the option to apply for a ‘professional experience’ opportunity,2 designed to further develop your skills and knowledge with the aim of maximising your employability prospects. See modules for more information.
