The course provides preparation for the academic skills required for degree level study, delivering the opportunity to develop the questioning and analytical skills required for progression in your chosen subject. After you have completed your Humanities Foundation Year, you can progress on to studying at degree level.**Start Dates**We offer a September and January entry point onto this course. (Applicant information for January 2022 entry can be found on the 2021/2022 pages.)The closing date for applications to the September 2022 entry point is the 15th January (unless otherwise stipulated) and the closing date for applications for the January 2023 entry point is the 20th December 2022. Please note that the January start point runs in a compressed time-frame (January to July) but without loss of teaching weeks or acceleration of teaching and content delivery. Studying Education means considering its relationship to the economy, its historical evolution, its impact on people’s life chances and identities, how it is organised, and how learners learn.You will study educational topics such as the nature of learning, the history of education, and educational policies and practices that aim to promote inclusion and social cohesion. Studying Education at Keele, either on its own or with another subject, will help you explore the many ways that education can change and effect modern society. The course further examines topics such as changing ideas around childhood and learning, digital technologies, citizenship, race, play, work, the political nature of schools, and the impact of poverty on both the results and experience of education.You may also have opportunities to explore these issues abroad by doing an International Year, which can lead to an enhanced degree title in BA (Hons) in Education with International Year.
