The programme is ideal for those who do not meet the entry requirements for direct entry onto an honours degree. Following successful completion (including any additional progression requirements) of the Foundation Year you can progress on to the first year of a combined honours Astrophysics course. (Applicant information for January 2022 entry can be found on the 2021/2022 pages.) The closing date for applications to the September 2022 entry point is the 15th January (unless otherwise stipulated) and the closing date for applications for the January 2023 entry point is the 20th December 2022. Please note that the January start point runs in a compressed time-frame (January to July) but without loss of teaching weeks or acceleration of teaching and content delivery. In Astrophysics, you will learn to formulate and tackle problems – from below the level of the atomic nucleus to astronomical scales. Astrophysics is active wherever the laws of physics are being tested to the limit – and beyond. Keele will help you to use astronomical observations, mathematical models and computer simulation to develop theories explaining some of the most complex phenomena. You’ll develop your mathematics and computing skills, and apply them to solving a range of problems in the laboratory and beyond (you’ll have access to Keele’s own on-site observatory).
