BA (Hons) Creative Technologies (Photography and Imaging)

BA Creative Technologies is a hands-on practical course which will allow you to work across a variety of complementary creative disciplines. We cover image production, animation, video, audio, apps, and immersive content. The course is underpinned with theory modules that are designed to make you think critically about the creative industries, developments in media production, and the impact technology is having on the way we produce, consume and engage with content. Our BA Creative Technologies programme is offered with a suite of unique specialisms.On completion of the course you will have the opportunity to showcase your creative production in our Degree Show, which evidences to employers that you are ready for a career in an ever-changing digital and technological landscape. All students take a common first semester in digital skills development and then specialise in one of the following: Interactive Media, Games Design, Photography, Music and Sound.This distinct pathway builds on the principles and conventions of photography to explore contemporary image-making using a variety of image capture, manipulation, and processing techniques such as cameras, scanning, photogrammetry, CGI, and computer vision, all underpinned by critical theory. Following a common first year, second and third year students will have the opportunity to research and experiment with different forms of photographic and other 2D and 3D image creation, as well as to collaborate with students on the other pathways within the degree. Aligned with active research and drawing upon technical expertise within the School, students will be able to apply their creative skills and specialist knowledge to a wide range of related industries, such as journalism, fashion, games, tourism, heritage, architecture, and health.
