MS Early Childhood/Childhood Education
The Master of Science in Early Childhood and Childhood Education at Long Island University is designed to equip educators with the skills and knowledge necessary to foster young children's development and learning. This program prepares candidates to teach at both the early childhood (birth–grade 2) and childhood (grades 1–6) levels, providing a strong foundation in pedagogical theory, curriculum design, and child development. Through a blend of coursework and field experiences, students will explore best practices in literacy instruction, mathematics education, science inquiry, and social studies for young learners. The program places a strong emphasis on inclusive education, ensuring graduates are well-prepared to support students with diverse learning needs, including those with disabilities and English language learners. With extensive fieldwork and student teaching opportunities, candidates will gain hands-on experience in real classrooms under the guidance of experienced mentors. Upon completion, graduates will be eligible for New York State initial teacher certification in Early Childhood and Childhood Education, allowing them to pursue rewarding careers as elementary or early childhood educators in public and private school settings.
