MSc Biomedical Engineering
Our new interdisciplinary MSc Biomedical Engineering focuses on the application of engineering to biology and medicine in order to enhance and improve healthcare.
The biomedical engineering field is rapidly developing and crosses a range of global sectors to help people achieve a better quality of life. Biomedical engineers have contributed to innovations in medical and healthcare products and technology, such as diagnostics, imaging, artificial organs, prosthetics and biomaterials implants.
Building on our excellent reputation and successful history of engineering, the programme will enhance your current engineering skills to develop your ability to solve problems in medicine and healthcare so you can work on projects with life-changing potential. It will enable you to thrive in an environment where teams come from a variety of disciplines and will teach you the skills to communicate with those from a biology or medical background, with whom you may work upon graduation.
The modules studied will allow you to integrate your engineering skills with an understanding of biology, enabling you to work successfully at this intersection of engineering to solve problems in healthcare. You will explore biomaterials and tissue engineering to gain a combined insight into biology and engineering enabling you to process the repair, replacement and medical enhancement of damaged cells and tissue, and biomedical component design, which gives an insight into how human lives can be transformed through engineering solutions.
